The fun alternate-history RPG setting for Call of Cthulhu by Modiphius has stepped into the realm of 28mm miniatures wargaming with the launch of the core rulebook for Achtung! Cthulhu Skirmish.
Set in the same alternate World War II as the RPG, in Skirmish not only do you face the threat of Nazi Germany but also the menace and horror of Lovecraft’s abundance of creatures and cosmic horrors. The game itself is built upon the Dystopian Legions 2.0 system by Spartan Games which designer Matthew Hope converted with narrative guided by AC designer, John Houlihan.
A key element of the game is the Mythos mechanic, whereby as the Mythos Influence Level grows, increasingly surreal events begin to occur.
The rulebook includes rules and stats for historical infantry, support weapons, tanks and vehicles as well as the more cosmic elements of Achtung! Cthulhu such as spells, artifacts and Mythos powers.
Modiphius already produce sets of 28mm miniatures for the RPG and the good news is that these will be compatible with Skirmish too.
The first campaign for Skirmish is titled Rise of the Black Sun and focuses on the Allied secret division, Section M as it takes on the Axis Cthulhu division. The campaign will be explored through expansion sets that are set to be released over the course of the next year which will all require the core rulebook to play.
