Since the release of the 5th Edition of D&D Wizards of the Coast (WotC) have released hardback story arc adventures on a roughly six-monthly schedule.
First we had the Tyranny of Dragons, Opening with the Hoard of the Dragon Queen and culminating in the Rise of Tiamat. The Cult of the Dragon had decided to change tactics, rather than creating dracoliches to take over the world they would bring Tiamat back from her Abyssal imprisonment to do so.
Next up we faced the Princes of the Apocalypse and their cults of Elemental Evil. Based off the classic Temple of Elemental Evil, the heroes face off against foes human and elemental as well as the embodiments of the Elemental Princes themselves.
But life in the Forgotten Realms doesn’t stay peaceful long, and we were catapulted into Out of the Abyss. Someone (won’t spoil it here) has summoned Demon Princes to the Underdark and their unearthly powers are affecting the area and its inhabitants. How long will it be before the surface world is affected too?
The next adventure removed the heroes from their familiar surroundings and transported them to a realm of gothic horror in Curse of Strahd. An updated and expanded 5e version of the classic 1st edition adventure Ravenloft. A realm ruled by the iron fist of a tyrannical vampire lord.
Having finally escaped Barovia, the repercussions from the Tyranny of Dragons comes back to bite the Realms in the collective behind. Storm King’s Thunder has the adventurer’s investigating why the Giants of the Realms are going on the rampage, and hopefully restore order.
And coming in April we have Tales from the Yawning Portal. This book will bring you not one classic adventure but seven, all given the full 5th edition treatment.
- Against the Giants
- Dead in Thay
- Forge of Fury
- Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan
- Sunless Citadel
- Tomb of Horrors
- White Plume Mountain
Some of these titles will be familiar to D&D players, while others less so (depending on their age) but all promise to be deadly outings for your heroes.
